Fred was born on May 3rd, 1877.  Fred's father was John Steel Lowndes and his mother was Virginia Pinheiro da Silva.  His maternal grandparents were Frederico Januário da Silva and Maria Pinheiro de Andrade.  He was the oldest of five children.  He had two brothers and two sisters, named Vivian, John Jack, Zelia and Virginia.  He died at the age of 57 in 1934.
