José Antônio, known as Tio Juca, was born on April 4th, 1862.  Tio Juca's father was José Antônio Rodrigues Filho and his mother was Thereza Barbosa da Fonseca.  His maternal grandparents were Joaquim Soares da Fonseca and Thereza Leopoldina de Castro Barbosa.  He was the oldest of eight children.  He had four brothers and three sisters, named Tio Sinhô, Alfredo, Afonso, José Arthur, Tia Nenêm, Vovó Maroca and Madrinha.  He died at the age of 83 on August 19th, 1945.
