Marcelo was born in 1942.  Marcelo's father is Daniel Correia da Silva and his mother was Alita Lowndes.  His maternal grandparents were Fred Lowndes and Alice da Silva Carvalho.  He is the second of three children.  He has two sisters named Vilma and Regina Alice.
