A. was born on April 25th, 1927.  A.'s father was Mario Porto de Mattos and his mother was Maria Euphrasia Cunha Rodrigues de Mattos.  His paternal grandparents are José Bonifácio de Mattos and Maria Carlota Porto de Mattos; his maternal grandparents were Joaquim (Tio Sinhô) da Fonseca Rodrigues and Luiza Anunciada Cunha Rodrigues.  He is the oldest of eight children.  He has three brothers and four sisters, named Mauro, Hugo, Pedro, Maria Lucia, Maria Odila, Maria Gilda and Maria Beatriz.
